Of Saline, Michigan, Clark Latham Ewing, a titan of this world, died on Sunday, February 24, 2019. Born on September 20, 1926, in Toledo, Ohio to Paul Edward Ewing Sr. and Viola Nellie (Clark) Ewing, he was the third of 6 children. He attended the University of Toledo after serving in the Army Air Corps in WWII.

He worked for Reynolds Construction Company, designing and selling homes in Toledo, Ohio after his marriage in 1946 to Marilyn Ruth Hainbuch. But Camp Storer beckoned to his spirit’s call for service. He returned as part-time summer director at Storer from 1956 to 1961, then became the full-time Executive Director in 1963 until retiring in 1985, though his involvement and presence endure to the present day.

It was during his years at the helm that camp grew and prospered, becoming YMCA Storer Camps. He began attending Camp Storer as a kid in Hi-Y. It was there at the age of 15 that he met and fell in love with Marilyn.

She survives him along with his brothers, Charles and George; his children, Marcia Lane, Linda Forster (Peter), Nancy Ewing, John Ewing (Jill), and Robert Dale Ewing (Heidi); his grandchildren, Jenni Lane (Bill Harrison), Liam Ayers (Christine), Robin Eilers (Mike), Megan Ewing (Tyler Whitney), Suzanne Ewing (Gregory Sawyer), Jeremy Wood (Ashley), Sean Ewing (Carissa Orizondo), Stephen Ewing (Kate), Sarah Wood, and Claire Forster; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. He is preceded in death by his father; mother; siblings, Paul E. Ewing II, Mildred Schmidt, and Carol Mae Ewing; and his beloved, youngest grandchild, Zacharias Clark Wood. A celebration of Clark’s life is scheduled for June 15, 2019 at YMCA Storer Camps in Jackson, Michigan.
