Cletus “Bud” Blank, 86, of Olney, passed away on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at Carle Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney. Bud was born on April 26, 1932 in Richland Co., IL, the son of Frank Sr. and Gertrude (Kapper) Blank. Bud loved music and played in several bluegrass bands.

He performed in Illinois and in surrounding states. In his early years he was a gas attendant at Hahn Station. He served in the US Army from 1952-1954 during the Korean War.

Bud owned the Wooden Shoe in Teutopolis for many years. He then returned to Olney and tended bar at the K of C Hall and was employed at the Eagles. Bud’s lifelong love of music inspired many nieces and nephews to pursue musical interests.

Bud was an active supporter of both the St. Joseph Church and St. Joseph School. Bud is survived by his brother, Wilbert “Wib” (Virginia) Blank of Wendelin, IL; Sister, Petronilla “Pet” Volk of Newton, IL; Sister, Matilda Hemrich of Newton, IL; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Frank (Elwanda) Blank Jr., and sister, Pauline (Lester) Ochs.

Memorials can be made to St. Joseph Catholic School. A visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Sunday, February 24, 2019, at the Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 AM on Monday, February 25, 2019, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Olney, with burial following at St. Joseph Cemetery in Olney.

Full Military Rites will be performed at the graveside.
