Corinne’s Obituary Corinne H. (Wiemeier) Knickerbocker, 90, of Pennellville, passed away after a brief illness on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at Upstate University Hospital at Community. Born in Syracuse, New York to Harold and Helen (Scott) Wiemeier, Corinne grew up in East Syracuse and later graduated from Nottingham High School. She then went on to work for New York Telephone.

After marrying, she spent the next 72 years on the farm she and her husband operated since 1947. While she was a native city girl, Corinne grew to love living in the country and being a farmers’ wife. She was known by many as the “Queen of Center Road” and one who wore many titles, such as the Pie Lady, Cookie Lady and the only one who tooted her horn and waved to her neighbors as she passed by on her way to Wegmans.

In addition to her deep love for her family, which was born out of her faith in Jesus Christ and her Christian values, she loved gardening, berry picking, canning, making jelly, game nights, sewing, knitting, hayrides, baking and visitors who stopped for impromptu visits; she was a pioneer woman of sorts. Best known as Gram or GG, to say she loved and adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren is an understatement. As a young mother she would take her children and interested neighborhood children to the pond on winter nights for moonlight skating, complete with hot chocolate and hot dogs around the bon fire.

She had a knack of making those who visited her home feel welcome and loved. Corinne is predeceased by her husband Raymond F. Knickerbocker, Sr. in 2001, and her brother Harold “Bud” Wiemeier in 2015. Surviving to cherish her memory are her children, Raymond “Skip” (Barb) Knickerbocker, June (Jim) Bergholtz, Mark (Doris) Knickerbocker and Carolyn (Dave) Hendrickson, four grandsons, Reggie Bergholtz, Jonathan and Christopher Knickerbocker and Jeffrey (Krysten) Knickerbocker, three granddaughters, Nicole (Erik) Yost, Sharon Knickerbocker, Cayla Knickerbocker and four great- grandchildren: Owen and Avery Yost and Gwendolyn and Remington Knickerbocker, her brother, Darrell Wiemeier and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The Family will greet friends on Saturday, January 26, 2019 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Maurer Funeral Home Moyers Corners, 3541 State Rt 31, Baldwinsville followed by funeral services at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Interment will be in Pine Plains Cemetery, Clay. In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift to one of Corinne’s favorite charities: Rescue Mission Alliance, 155 Gifford Street, Syracuse, NY 13202 or rescuemissionalliance.org.
