Obituary for Crystal Linn Choate-Zucca Crystal Choate Zucca of Lake Tapawingo, MO went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, October 25, 2018 after an extended battle with neuroendocrine carcinoma cancer. Crystal was born on April 5, 1961 to Jerry and Geri Choate. She married the love of her life, Wyatt Zucca, on January 9, 1999.

She leaves behind her husband Wyatt, and a son Cade Ian, of the home, two daughters and their husbands; Sunny and Seth Schaffer of Joint Base Lewis McChord, Washington and Cheyenne and Dylon Zucca Conner of Blue Springs, MO, four grandchildren- Evelyn Grace, Alyvia, Caroline, and Cairo, parents Jerry and Geri Choate, mother-in-law Opal Zucca, brothers Toby and Tad Choate, plus countless nieces, nephews, cousins, and spiritual children. She is preceded in death by her son Colton Jeffrey Choate Zucca, father-in-law Herb Zucca and grandparents Edward and Velma Ray Choate and Chester and Ada Andes. Crystal was a graduate of Blue Springs High school, where she participated in cheerleading, leading roles in drama productions, pop choir, and youth groups.

She attended Graceland University where she earned a degree in Business Administration. She began her work in retail at age 15, then moved into the real estate industry from 1994 – 2007. Most recently she taught a life skills class at the Daniel Academy and was a co-owner of Zucca & Daughters & Sons Roofing.

Crystal was a world traveler with a knack for finding the most unique adventures everywhere she visited. She loved to scuba dive and spent countless weekends assisting with trainings. Crystal was a natural born teacher and stepped in to the role whenever possible.

From teaching driving lessons to party planning to bookkeeping or just a pep talk for your spiritual journey, those fortunate enough to be a student of hers could be certain they only learned from the best. Crystal enjoyed entertaining and will be fondly remembered for the incredible events she masterminded and the smell of her home at Christmastime, when she made hundreds of tea rings for friends and family. A bold, no nonsense leader with a servant’s heart, Crystal was heavily involved within the community, from social clubs to various mission trips around the world, her children’s school and sports activities, and her church New Covenant Ministries, where she was a long time member.

Services will be held at First Baptist Church Blue Springs I-70 Campus, 4500 Little Blue Parkway, Independence, MO on Saturday, November 10, 2018. Family will receive visitors from 9 – 12 noon with Celebration of Life service beginning at 12pm. There will be a lunch served for family and close friends after the service.

Private burial. As this is a celebration, feel free to wear clothing to reflect her bright zest for life. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to The Crystal Zucca Memorial Charity Fund at Bank of Grain Valley, 14801 E. 40 Highway, Kansas City, MO 64136.

Donations will be dispersed among the charities closest to her heart. A special thank you to Dr. Liu and the loving hospital staff at Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Medical Center in Denver, Colorado and KU Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. Crystal’s life verse was Matthew 6:33 “Seek first the Kingdom of God and His Righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you”.

Crystal was a remarkably wise woman remembered for her unmatched strength, spirit, optimism – seasoned with grace and love. She brought life, laughter and love to everyone she met. She made a personal decision for Christ in 1995 and asked him into her heart.

She encouraged everyone to live by this verse and to know personally her Jesus.
