Dale Clodfelter, age 88, passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2019 in Lawton. He was born June 2, 1940 in Covington, Oklahoma to Maurice G. and Ruby Nina (Hubbard) Clodfelter. He married Emma Faye Hansen on June 16, 1962 in Sumner, Oklahoma.

She preceded him in death on March 4, 2003. Dale and Emma moved to Lawton in 1963 where he began his construction career at Chapman Construction. He worked on many projects in the Lawton/Ft.

Sill area, but some of the more notable were the Comanche County Courthouse and the City National Bank building. He left Chapman to start his own company, CIG Construction. Through CIG, he completed several various government projects all over southwest Oklahoma.

Dale also worked as an inspector for Phil Burk & Associates. He was involved with the construction of Pat Henry Elementary and Tomlinson Junior High. Upon completion of these projects, he went to work at Ford Roofing as a project estimator.

He continued his career at Ford Roofing until his retirement in September of 2017. Dale was always involved in the booster clubs of his two sons’ schools and sports teams from their little league days through graduation from Lawton High. He continued to enjoy the area sports scene as he traveled to support his grandchildren from little leagues to collegiate athletic endeavors.

Dale was a lifelong servant of his church family, serving on multiple committees and never failing to open the church and insure the coffee was hot up until a hip injury in November 2018. Dale was a deeply devoted husband to Emma and was very supportive of all her hobbies and interests. They traveled all over the southern United States hauling racing pigeons just to spend time together and see places they’d never been; stopping at every arts/crafts/hobby store and garage sale along the way!

He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Carla Clodfelter and Mike and Cari Clodfelter; nine grandchildren and their spouses, Meagan Clodfelter, Mark Colby and Lendi Clodfelter, Matthew Chance and Shay-le Clodfelter, Teresa and Heath Story, Ryan Clodfelter, Wyatt Williamson, Cara and Henry Cole, Josh and Stephanie Morris and Jessica Morris; 15 great grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, David and Mary Ann Clodfelter, Perkins, Oklahoma; a sister and brother-in-law, Margie and Henry Wilbanks, Canyon, Texas; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. His parents and his wife preceded him in death. Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation or to the Leah M. Fitch Cancer Center.
