Aucoin, 75, Lawton, will be at 2:00 pm Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at First Baptist East with Pastor Brent Aucoin, Faith Church, Lafayette, Indiana and Rev. Doug Passmore, Pastor, First Baptist East, officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Becker-Rabon Funeral Home.

Loreta passed away at Deaconess Hospital, Oklahoma City, and entered her eternal home in heaven on May 23, 2019. She was born on June 24, 1943 to Clarence M. Mathis (Tommy) and Nova Lee Mathis in Elk City, Oklahoma. Loreta attended Carpenter school until the 7th grade.

She then moved to Hammon and graduated in 1961 from Hammon High School with honors. She attended a two-year business course at Southwestern State College in Weatherford. There, she met her future husband, Harry L. Aucoin.

They got married on January 25, 1964 in the Rev. Pete Elliot’s home near Elk City. She did clerical work for their Earl Drug business for many years.

She was a former member of Calvary Baptist Church and later joined First Baptist East. She loved teaching and helping in the church nursery with the tots for 30+ years. Her favorite hobby was sewing (a homemaker at heart).

She made her own clothes as well as her wedding dress. Later, she began to use her passion of sewing to provide bibs and baby blankets to the new born babies in church. Loreta was a huge Elvis Presley fan.

She loved his gospel songs and many others. She enjoyed visiting Graceland in Tennessee and traveling to Indiana to see her grandkids. A stop in Branson was a must from the trip back home from Indiana.

An opportunity to travel to the Pacific Northwest allowed her to visit her oldest grandson after his move from Oklahoma in 2017. She enjoyed walking outdoors, taking her family to the Wichita Mountains to hike, and sharing a meal at Meer’s. She loved everything “Oklahoma”.

Presenting all the grandkids with “Oklahoma” t-shirts, watching the OU Girls’ softball team on TV, and collecting rose rocks gave her enjoyment. She was a caring, tenderhearted person, dedicated to serving others. She would spend an endless amount of time searching for that perfect birthday, anniversary, or sympathy card.

She did this because she wanted you to know you were special to her. She is survived by her children, Lucretia (Aucoin) Dunagan and her husband, Thomas Dunagan of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Brent Aucoin and his wife Janet of Lafayette, Indiana; three grandsons, Brandon Dunagan of Boise, Idaho, Brian Dunagan of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Josh Aucoin of Lafayette, Indiana; one granddaughter, Karis Aucoin of Lafayette, Indiana. Also surviving are two sisters, Treva Parr and her husband, Earl, of Irving, Texas; Barbara Harris and her husband David of Lubbock Texas; brother-in-law Bigie Rhea of Tahlequah, and numerous nieces and nephews along with their children.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and sister, Lou Ann Rhea; sister-in-law and brother in-law Graydon and Yvonne Fooshee, and niece-in-law Ruth Ann Cobble. Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Bible Seminary, 5526 State Road 26 East, Lafayette, IN 47905 in memory of Loreta Aucoin.
