Mr. Daron Bennell Huitt July 02, 1987 – February 14, 2019 Share this obituary Send Sympathy Gifts Sign Guestbook| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card WHITSETT- Mr. Daron Bennell Huitt, 31, of 1762 Rock Creek Dairy Road, passed away on Thursday, February 14, 2019, at 9:56 am at Moses H. Cone Hospital. A native of Guilford County, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Bennell Columbus Huitt and Doris Mae Slade Huitt, who survives. Daron was a devout father and a loving son, brother, and friend.
He was a fun person to be around. Daron knew how to bring joy to even an imperfect situation and make things just a little more bearable. He was not the type of person to be detained or held back by life’s mishaps or misfortunes because he could always come up with a solution to make whatever it may be okay in the end.
Daron was very smart and reful. Daron attended H.W. Smith Elementary School, Levy Church, while living in Syracuse, New York, from the age of 13 to the age of 18. He attended High School at Syracuse Academy of Science (SAS) located in Syracuse, New York.
Daron was an honor student at SAS and ran track. During his junior year in high school, he was awarded 2 scholarships to run track. Daron migrated back to North Carolina during his 11th-grade year, where he obtained his diploma at Brittan Academy.
Daron migrated to Syracuse, New York in 2000 to live with his brother in law, Rev. Sherman G. Dunmore and sister, Sharon Dunmore. While in Syracuse, he attended his brothers-in-law church, People’s A.M.E. Zion Church.
Daron played the drums in the church, sang in the youth choir, and was a member of the stomp team where he performed at the Harriet Tubman Historical Site located in Auburn, New York. Daron attended church conferences in Ohio, Maryland, Washington, Baltimore and San Diego, California. He was also a member of the Young People’s Congress of the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church in the Western New York Annual Conference.
Daron was very talented. Among being an athlete and musician, Daron enjoyed cooking, he was skilled in auto body repair, he was a good dancer, he was poetic and comical. He could always say or do something to make you laugh.
Daron leaves to mourn, his mother, Doris Mae Slade, three children, Alaah Huitt, Daron Huitt Jr., and Kallie Huitt, his children’s mom, Danielle White; seven stepchildren, seventeen siblings, including his twin brother, Aaron Huitt, brother Bennell Huitt Jr.; sisters, Asiash Slade, Margarita Raman, Alexis Huitt, Shamonda Tatum, Dominica Scott, Bessie Crushank, Cassandra Robbinson, Ida Jones, Sharon Dunmore, Georgia Wilson, Kelly Huitt, Vernell Bright, Latonya Huitt, and Taninahuitt, eight nieces, six nephews, two great nieces, two great-nephews, “Dad” Jan Carter, close friend Shebby Allred, and a host of other nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, family and friends. Daron was also preceded in death by his step-father, Bobby Sanders. Daron’s homegoing service will be held on Friday, February 22, 2019, at 1:00 pm at Mt.
Zion AME Church with Pastor Henry Davis officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends thirty minutes prior to the funeral service at the church, and all other times at the home.
Daron’s public viewing will be held on Thursday, February 21, 2019, from 1:00-6:00 pm at Hargett Funeral Service. Alamance Funeral Service of Burlington has the honor of serving the Huitt Family. Online condolences can be made at alamancefuneralservice.org.
