Darrell Stromberg Clarke, age 76, passed away Saturday February 23, 2019 in his home surrounded by his family. Born in Ogden, UT to Charles Clarence Clarke and Elma Stromberg Clarke on June 20, 1942. He married Debra Steele August 11, 1964 in the Logan, UT Temple.

Darrell loved his family, above all his wife, Debra. Together they raised 5 children, spoiled 18 grandkids, and recently welcomed their first great-grandchild. Darrell loved his country.

He served 33 years in the Air Force Reserves. He led 2 rescue missions to the Aleutian Islands to retrieve World War II airplanes. Both airplanes are on display at the Hill Aerospace Museum at Hill Air Force Base.

He worked and retired from Hill Air Force Base. Darrell loved to serve. He was a dedicated home teacher who was able to minister and befriend many.

He served 4 missions with Debra for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They served in the Inner-City Ogden mission and was able to serve in the Ogden 4th Ward, the ward he grew up in. They served at the Genealogy Library, and the Conference Center.

And most recently, in the Lubbock, Texas mission where they served as military relation missionaries. He was proud to serve side by side with the dedicated service people stationed at Goodfellow Airforce base in San Angelo, Texas. Darrell loved to work in his garden.

His grandkids think his grape juice is world famous. He loved watching ball games. Most especially when his kids and grandkids were playing, and was often sitting on the sidelines cheering them on.

He loved Weber State University Athletics and was a season ticket holder. He loved working with the Scouts. He loved to be outside, especially in the mountains, and enjoyed camping in the Uinta mountains with his family.

Darrell loved his life-long friends, the Badgers and the Putnams and spent 5 decades traveling, golfing, and playing games with them. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Richard Clarke, and son Ronald Clarence Clarke. He is survived by his wife Debra Steele Clarke, sister Barbara Peterson (Gary) of North Ogden UT, and children Douglas Clarke (Roberta) of North Ogden UT, Curtis Darrell Clarke of Grand Blanc MI, ChrisAnne Conner (Kevin) of Pleasant View UT, Melinda Wade (Jon) of North Ogden UT.

A viewing will be held Friday March 1st from 6:00-8:00 pm. Funeral services will be Saturday March 2nd at 11:00 am, with a viewing prior from 10:00-10:45. All services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel 1150 E. 2600 N. North Ogden, UT.
