Froehlich, David E., “Boss”, 82, passed away September 30, 2018 at his home in Windber, PA. David, second son of the late Helen and John Froehlich, was born a leap year baby in Johnstown, February 29, 1936. David successfully rebuilt the historic family business, Alex Froehlich Packing Company, after Johnstown’s 3rd devastating flood in 1977 and is the entrepreneur of the famous hometown favorite, Froehlich’s Holiday Kolbassi.

Chief Master Sargent David Froehlich provided loyal and faithful service to the 911 Civil Engineering Squadron from January 1963 through December 1989 and Active Ready Reserve Service from April 1974 through March 1977. David is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 33 years, Vinnie (Sakony), and children, his loving son, co-owner of the meat market and “Sunday Buddy” for the last 18 years, David E. II, loving daughters, Tamera, and Christina married to Thomas Rippin, and step son Michael Kresko that took great care of him in the last tough years of home care, grandchildren, Nicole married to Patrick Beatty, Corey Crocco, married to Mindi (Dorian), Michelle Rippin, Michael Crocco, Michael Rippin, and great grandchildren, Kylee and Caleb. David is preceded in death by his first wife of 15 years, Dorothy (Marusa), his parents, Helen and John, and his older brother, Richard.

David is survived by his siblings, sisters Ann Russel and Kay Mulvaney, brothers John Paul Froehlich and Thomas Froehlich, and loving family, Lynn and Jack Adamchik and their children, Kimberly, Jackie, and grandchildren Morgan, Megan, and great grandchild, Nixon, Vincent and Karen Sakony and their child Autumn married to Stuart and their grandchildren Carter and Campbell, Roxanne and Joe Valchine and their child Missy married to Rich Zubay, and Lisa and Brian Moore. He was a member of Elks, St. Clair Tremont Club and Croation Hall. David battled various illnesses for 18 years to stay with those who loved him, he was a genuine friend to many, an admired and respected “Boss”, and loving husband and father – he will be greatly missed.

Friends received 2-8 PM Thursday at Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry lane, Richland, where Vigil Service will be held. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 AM Friday at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Windber. Fr.
