David’s Obituary Cobleskill (Schoharie County): David L. Purcell 75, of Little York Road, Cobleskill passed away Sunday March 3rd at the Citrus Memorial Hospital in Inverness, FL where he had been enjoying the winter months. David was born January 13, 1944 in Cobleskill, a son of Gerald and Lois (Edgar) Purcell and attended the former Cobleskill High School graduating in 1962. He later enlisted in the US Air Force where he served in Law Enforcement and Corrections.

He was honorably discharged after serving 4 years and returned to Schoharie County where he operated the former Depot Millwork and Furniture Co, Inc in Cobleskill. He later served as the plant manager and Executive Vice President of the former Burton Enterprises in Cobleskill. He also drove school bus for Cobleskill School District, sold cars at the former Head Sales and Service in Lawyersville and served part-time as a Police Officer for the Cobleskill PD.

David was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #2695 and enjoyed spending winters in Florida. Survivors include his wife, Sally (Wayman) Purcell whom he married June 27, 2013, his children; Rebecca (Robert) Berschwinger of Duanesburg, David (Delilah) Purcell, Jr. of Fultonville and Kathleen (Andrew) Fetter of Central Bridge, his step-children; Shannon Graves Ronnenberg (Benjamin) of Rush, NY, Cheri Graves (Brooks Lastinger) of Spartanburg, SC, and Matthew Hotaling of Hernando, FL, 14 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, 2 brothers; Richard Purcell of Cobleskill and Steve Purcell of Richfield Springs along with several nieces and nephews and several extended family members. He was predeceased by his parents.

Calling hours will be held from 10AM to 12PM on Saturday, March 30th at the Fusion Church, 375 North Grand Street, Cobleskill followed by a funeral service at 12 Noon with military honors following. A luncheon in the church hall will conclude all services on Saturday and all are invited. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mr. Purcell to Marathon For A Better Life, PO Box 268, Warnerville, New York 12187 OR Fusion Church, 375 N. Grand St., Cobleskill, NY 12043.

The Robert A. Guffin Funeral Home of Cobleskill and the Langan Funeral Home of Schoharie are assisting the Purcell family.
