Obituary of Dean Vanderhoef Dean F. Vanderhoef, age 98, of Erie, passed away Friday, June 15, 2018 at Sarah Reed Retirement Center. He was born in Ridgeway, PA on April 22, 1920, son of the late Frank and Viola Dean Vanderhoef. Dean was employed as a truck driver by Phoenix Trucking Co. for 12 years prior to his retirement in 1982.

He was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit. Dean enjoyed traveling and reading. In addition to his parents, Dean was preceded in death by his wife, Naomi M. States Vanderhoef.

Survivors include two daughters, Deanna Fromknecht (Norbert), and Barbara Buffington (Christopher); five grandchildren, Lisa Carmichael (William), Kim Lesik (Steven), Brian Fromknecht (Julie), Kevin Fromknecht (Dahlia) and Patrick Buffington (Carrie); and 12 great-grandchildren. Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 4216 Sterrettania Road, on Saturday from 10 am until the time of the Memorial Service there at 10:30 am. Interment at Laurel Hill Cemetery will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
