Delbert L. Diehl, age 87, passed away Monday, July 16, 2018, at University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics surrounded by his family. He was born in Liberty, IL. on March 15, 1931, the son of Floyd and Ettie Mae (Bowman) Diehl.

He joined the US Air Force in 1949, where he literally “served” his country as a meat cutter which became his profession. Delbert married Bonnie Meeks on April 5, 1953, in Moline, IL. He was an ordained pastor and served with his wife as a missionary in Poland and Australia.

Everyone enjoyed his humor and his laughter. Del was especially known for the unconditional love he gave everyone around him making them feel special. He made sure everyone knew how much Jesus loved them.

He absolutely loved being around his family, especially his grandkids and great-grandkids. He adored and cherished his wife and best friend, Bonnie, in a way that is rarely seen in today’s world. Delbert is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie; 3 children: Rick (Kathy) Diehl, Rhonda (Edward) Rehrig, and David (Laura) Diehl; 7 grandchildren: Jason (Bethany) Diehl, Barb “Nysa” Smith, Benjamin (Amber) Daniels, Christopher Diehl, Kimberly Diehl, Jamison (Angie) Diehl, and Austin (Jozzy Lang) Diehl; 13 great grandchildren; and many other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Rebecca Howard; parents; three brothers; and many other family and friends. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 23, 2018, at CITY OF HOPE CHURCH with Pastor Dale Berlin and Pastor Laura Diehl officiating. The family will have a private interment at Milton Lawns Memorial Park.

Friends may call from 12:00 p.m., noon, until the time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers, Bonnie is requesting donations be made to GPS Hope, (P. O. Box 264, Janesville, WI 53547).
