Delia “Dee” Razo, née Flores, passed away July 23 2018, at the age of eighty-seven, in Santa Ynez, California. Delia was born January 25, 1931 in Wichita Falls, Texas, to Ventura H. Flores of Chihuahua, Mexico; and Asuncion Mares of San Angelo, Texas. Residing with family in Wichita Falls until the age of , when her parents decided, due to conditions in Texas during the Great Depression, to go westward with the family to California, settling in the Santa Maria Valley.

Delia attended… Read More » Fairlawn and Miller Street School, El Camino Junior High, and Santa Maria High School, graduating with the class of 1950. In her youth, Delia attended Marjorie Hall Dance Studio, enjoying tap and ballet dancing, and performing at Camp Cooke for the military. She helped the family working in the fields harvesting crops and volunteered as a lookout in the tower at the Hancock School of Aeronautics.

Delia went on to work for F.W. Woolworth’s, Arrow Photo for Bob Stratton and Hank Datter, for Holser and Bailey’s, and finally at Bryant and Trott Hardware for 35 years, until her retirement. After retirement, she enjoyed volunteering and traveling to visit family and friends. In 1956, she married Joaquin “Sam” Razo, whom she survived, after 50 years of marriage.

Delia is survived by her children, Lela Razo of Santa Maria, John Razo of Reseda, California; and grandson Alexander Razo-Myers of Berkeley, California, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ventura and Asuncion; her brothers, Gilbert J. Penn, Ventura E. “Benny” Flores, Alfredo “Freddy” Flores, Raul Flores; and a sister, Rosaura Flores. Visitation wil be held Tuesday, July 31 from 3-6 p.m., with a vigil service at 6 p.m. at the chapel of Dudley-Hoffman Mortuary.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on August 1, at 10 a.m., at Saint Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church. Interment will follow at the Santa Maria Cemetery.
