Obituary for Delphine L. Woodring (Haslam) Delphine L. Woodring, 77, Altoona, formerly of Bellwood, died Saturday evening May 12, 2018 at UPMC Altoona. She was born January 8, 1941 in Reading, daughter of the late Elmer and Edith Jeanette (Naugle) Haslam and was raised by her step mother, the late Ruth Irene Patten. On May 5, 1958, she married Franklin L. Woodring in Philadelphia and he preceded her in death on Jan.

11, 2008. Surviving are a daughter, Rose-Ellen M. (Don) Balasco of Altoona; three sons, Donald D. (Sharon) of Pipersville, Bruce L. (Lori) of Claysburg and Frank E. (Hannah) of Furlong; nine grandchildren; Amber, Caleb, Brandi, Bruce Lee, Jr., Dannielle, Jason and Sara Woodring and Sharon and Lisa Balasco; eight great grandchildren; two brothers, Donald E. Haslam in Washington and David L. Haslam in Pennsylvania; a step brother, Richard J. Stefen in Florida; and a sister, Georgine L. Hamilton of Altoona. She was preceded in death by sister, Ethel Holzer.

Delphine retired as a teacher’s assistant at Williamsburg School District. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Juniata where she was active in Trinity Lutheran Church Women and served and attended prayer breakfasts. She was founder and regional director of Blair County Chapter of American Chronic Pain Association and past president of Resident’s Council of the Blair Tower.

She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and a member of Red Hat Society. Delphine enjoyed sewing, cooking, baking and had a love for animals. She especially loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Friends will be received from 1-2:30 p.m. Thursday, May 17, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Juniata. A funeral service will be held at 2:30p.m. Thursday at the church, Pastor Elizabeth Hess officiating. Interment will be at Logan Valley Cemetery, Bellwood.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Delphine’s memory be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Juniata or St. Vincent dePaul Society, Altoona.
