Obituary for Denise Bushey (Menard) Denise R. Bushey, 92 wife of the late Alfred A. Bushey for over 57 years, passed on Monday, October 1, 2018 at Miller Memorial Community Inc. following a lengthy illness. Born in Hardwick, VT on April 24, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Georges and Diana (Boulais) Menard. She was the eldest of their 13 children, and was predeceased by 3 brothers (Guy, Jean, and Leo) and her beloved sister Marthe.

Denise resided in Meriden for the last 62 years. She was educated in Vermont and left the family farm briefly to pursue employment in Rhode Island. That chapter of her life ended with the marriage to her beloved husband, and her new focus on raising their family of 10 children.

Mrs. Bushey was a parishioner of St. Laurent Church in Meriden. She loved to tend her flowers -both inside and out, having a fondness for roses and gardenias. She also enjoyed sports (Red Sox/ UCONN Women’s Basketball) and loved her Pioneer Woman cooking show and HGTV programs.

Denise also loved when the house was full of family. That family includes two daughters Linda (Tom) Buonano of California, Jo-Anne Gawel of Plantsville, and six sons Alan of Louisiana, Danny (Nancy) of Meriden, Rene (Sherri) of Waterbury, Andrew (Patty) of New Hampshire, Michael (Lynne) of Hamden, and Patrick of Meriden. She also leaves behind her 18 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her daughter Diane Perkins of Durham and her son Keith Lee Bushey of Germany. Her funeral will be held on Saturday, October 6th at 10 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Angels Parish, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Campus, 109 Goodwill Ave.

, Meriden for a Mass of Christian Burial. Everyone is asked to meet directly at church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call at the John J.
