Obituary for Gladys Milagros Santos Gladys Milagros Santos, 40, known to all as “Mama”, died Sunday, October 28, 2018 at her home after a long life of overcoming medical complications that many doctors found to be miraculous. Born in Ponce, Puerto Rico on April 8, 1978, she was the daughter of Ramon Santos Garcia and Carmen Milagros Ortiz Alvarado. She had resided in Meriden after living in New York, Waterbury and Middletown throughout her life.

She graduated from Waterbury Adult Ed. Mama was unemployed due to her health, but always lent a hand with the family’s children, showing a special attachment to her nieces, nephew, and their children. She was of Catholic faith and was a loving godmother to Victoria and Isaac.

Besides her parents, she is survived by three brothers; Reymond , who was her best friend, Ramon, and Luis Daniel Santos, three step brothers; Ricardo and David Santos, and Jason Rodriguez, four sisters; Johana, Glorivee, Clarissa and Maslin, five nieces that she raised as her own; Isabella Alvarado of Wethersfield, Elizabeth Santos of Middletown, and Angelica, Victoria and Mercedez Santos all of Meriden and one nephew that she raised as her own, Reymond “Rey Rock” Santos of Middletown. She is also survived by nine great nieces and nephews that she treated as grandchildren. Known as “Madrina or “Manina”, she loved Eilis, Frank Jr., Cayden, Isaac, Landon, Aurora, Alexis, Mariana and little Atticus and many other nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her aunt Elena and uncle Ramon, who welcome her to heaven with open arms. She was loved by so many. Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East main St., Meriden on Friday, November 2nd, Saturday, November 3rd and Sunday, November 4th from 1 to 5p.m. Burial will be private.

Should friends desire, contribution in her memory may be made to the Santos Family. The Santos family invites attendees to spent time and exchange stories of Gladys at the family house in Meriden over food each day after the service.
