Mrs. Diane Hammond Gunter, age 55, of Marion, passed away unexpectedly due to an automobile accident on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals in Asheville. A native of Williamston, SC, Diane was born on November 29, 1962 to Gary and Janice Hammond. Her family was precious to her and she delighted in communicating with them and catching up on the latest family news.

Even more than that she loved spending time with her grandchildren who she loved deeply. She also held dear her many friendships and treasured the relationships she cultivated over the years. Diane attended New Manna Baptist Church.

She leaves behind two children, Gary McAlhaney of Marion and Janice Chapman Bell and husband Jonathan of Colorado; a brother, Toby Hammond and wife Dottie of Blythwood, SC; and three grandchildren, Makaylee and Nikolas Bell and Summer Ann Hawkins. A service of remembrance and celebration of her life will take place on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. in the chapel of Westmoreland Funeral Home in Marion. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Burial will take place in a private graveside service in the Lovin Cemetery in Sylva.
