Obituary for Dixie Whitsel (Whited) Dixie L. Whitsel, 87 of Shippensburg, passed away Sunday, June 10, 2018 at the Chambersburg Hospital. She was born March 22, 1931 in Pittsburgh, PA. Dixie was a daughter of the late Blain Booth and Eleanor Whited Lanning.

She retired from the Letterkenny Army Depot. Dixie was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Burt J. Asper American Legion Post # 46, AMVETS Post # 224 and the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge # 842 all in Chambersburg and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Durff-Kuhn VFW Post # 6168 Shippensburg. She is survived by one son, James L. Whitsel of Shippensburg, two daughters, Linette G. (Michael) Horst of Harrisburg and Tina L. Whitsel of Mercersburg, 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her mother she was preceded in death by one son, Landis B. Whitsel, her step-mother, Della Bowers and ex-husband, James P. Whitsel. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 14, 2018 at 11 a.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Shippensburg. Officiating will be the Rev.

James O. Bolich. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. A viewing will be held Thursday morning one hour prior to the services.
