Obituary for Don B Kettle Don B Kettle arrived to his earthly home on September 26, 1941 to his loving parents Marvin and Dorothy in Ballard, Utah. He was raised on the family farm where he learned to work hard. After graduating high school, he served a memorable and fruitful mission for 2.
5 years in the Southwest Indian Mission. He deeply loved the wonderful Native American people. During his mission, he became one of very few men who has served faithfully as a Relief Society president.
Don met Nancy Williams on a blind date on Valentine’s Day and quickly fell in love with her. He proposed three months later and they were married in the Salt Lake City Temple on May 29, 1964. He provided for his family as a welder for many years.
Don and Nancy raised five beautiful children, Catherine, Melinda, Stephanie, Marvin, and Renee. Their favorite place to visit was Jackson Hole and Yellowstone, Wyoming. Don loved his Savior, reading the scriptures, working in his garden and the yard and Louis L’amour books.
He served many years as a ward mission leader, high priest group leader, and Sunday School president where he touched many lives with his quiet and kind ways. Don served everywhere he went. One of his favorite activities was to pick up day old bread and distribute it to friends and neighbors.
Don passed away at home on June 17, 2018. His deep love for his family and his example of Christ-like living will have far-reaching impact for years to come. Don is survived by his eternal “sweetie” of 54 years Nancy Catherine Williams Kettle, his children Catherine (Bob) Shira, Melinda (Mark) Hicken, Stephanie Tanner, Marvin (Amy) Kettle, and Renee Christiansen, brother Mark (Mary) Kettle, sister Renee (Stanley, Jr.) Womack, sister-in-law Marlene Kettle, 15 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren with 2 great-grandchildren on the way.
He is preceded in death by his parents Marvin Alfred Kettle and Dorothy Rebecca Collins Betts Kettle and his brother Elvin Kettle. The viewing will be held Saturday, June 23 at 10:30 am at the Union Fort 2nd Ward, 6770 S 500 E, Midvale. The funeral services will follow at 12:00 pm.
Burial will be in the Salt Lake City Cemetery. Thank you to those who provided in home care to Don. Your kindness and respect will never be forgotten.
