Obituary for Donald Dwayne Guenther Donald Dwayne Guenther Rowlett, TX Donald Dwayne Guenther went home to be with his Lord on May 28, 2018. He was an avid fisherman and golfer, an unwavering, yet often frustrated, Dallas Cowboy fan, and a great story teller about the places he had gone and the people he had met along the way. Don was born on March 8, 1933, in Porum Oklahoma to Hubert Ray Shoemake and Alice Pansy Hill.

He was later adopted and took the surname of Joseph Killion Guenther. Don and Martha, his wife of 65 years, lived and traveled various continents around the world, and for the past 10 years, he was a resident of Rowlett, Texas. Don joined the Air Force in 1952 and served his country during the Korean War.

He then earned a BS of Mathematics Degree from Louisiana Tech and later an Executive Masters of Business from Florida Institute of Technology. Don worked for various companies throughout his career including Western Electric, Collins Radio, Rockwell International and E-Systems. He was a devout Christian and an Ordained Deacon in the Baptist Church.

Don is survived by his daughter Glenda Ann Williams of Rowlett, Texas and 2 grandsons, Robert Dwayne Kennedy of Royse City, Texas and Blair Cody Williams of Novi, Michigan. He also leaves behind a granddaughter-in-law Jodi Clee Kennedy, and three beautify great-grand daughters, Brianna Clee, Jamyson Blaire, and Elizabeth Tayler Kennedy. He is also survived by several in-laws, Carrol and Rosemary Butler of Garland, Texas and Elsie Butler of Shreveport, Louisiana, half-siblings Gary Shoemake of Tennessee and Glenda Shoemake Ferenbach of Florida as well as numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.

Don was proceeded in death by his wife Martha Butler Guenther, his son Joseph Dwayne Guenther, his father and mother Joe and Alice Guenther, his father, Pete Shoemaker, as well as two half-siblings, Ray and Phil Shoemake. We will be celebrating dad’s life at Bailey’s Funeral Home in Plain Dealing Louisiana on May 31 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM. Graveside services will be held at the Plain Dealing Cemetery at 10:00 AM on June 1, 2018.
