Donna Garner Richey November 26, 1934 – December 27, 2018 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Funeral Service for Donna Garner Richey will be at 10:00 am Saturday, January 5, 2019 in the Becker-Rabon Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Brad Allen, Duncan, Oklahoma officiating. Burial will follow at 2:00 pm in the Lawnview Cemetery, Cordell, Oklahoma. Donna Garner Richey, 84, went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 27, 2018.

She lived in Georgetown, Texas at the time of her passing. Mrs. Richey was born November 26, 1934, in Bessie, Oklahoma. She grew up in Gotebo, Oklahoma and graduated from Lake Valley High School.

She married Bob Richey on February 14, 1954, in Gotebo. She earned her bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from Southwestern Oklahoma State University. She was a lifelong educator and taught school in Clinton, Shawnee, and Lawton, where she and her family moved in 1970.

During her career, she was Teacher of the Year for the Lawton Public Schools and a member of the Board of the Oklahoma Education Association. She was a member of First Baptist Church Lawton, and later at Quail Springs Baptist Church Edmond, Oklahoma and First Baptist Church Georgetown, Texas. Throughout her life, Mrs. Richey enjoyed teaching Sunday school and being a part of the local Christian Women’s Club.

Survivors include her daughter Cheryl Richey, Lewisville, Texas; son Alan Richey and his wife Denise, Georgetown, Texas; grandchildren Grant Richey and his wife Shelby, Austin, Texas; Grayson Richey, Austin, Texas; and Jade Richey, San Antonio, Texas; her brother Larry Garner and his wife Debi, Hobart, Oklahoma; Phyllis Garner, Sherman, Texas; Mickey Tracy and her husband Johnny, Mountain View, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
