He was baptized in the name of the Triune God on Christmas Day, 1930 at the “elderhosen” (elder’s house) in Gotebo. He was confirmed in the Lutheran faith on June 24, 1945 at St. John Lutheran Church in Lawton. The family homesteaded the farm in Gotebo, Oklahoma before 1921, and it was here Rudy and his brother, Karl, Jr. learned the value of hard work that would extend through his lifetime.
In the mid 1930’s the family purchased the farm south of Lawton, and began the farming and dairy operation. Rudy had so many great stories of growing up west of Cache Creek. He rode his horse to Bishop School across the pasture that is now the Lawton Airport.

Rudy bought a backhoe and truck and began working in and around Lawton, and dug many footings on buildings in Lawton. In 1972, they purchased the Ford tractor and implement dealership on 6th Street& HWY 277 in Lawton, R & H Implement. They added a construction business a few years later, R & H Construction.
Rudy was on the Bishop School board for over 37 years. His hobbies included farming and ranching and was still involved until his health forced him to retire about a year ago. Rudy was involved in 4-H and FFA with his children and grandchildren, and loved going to stock shows and sporting events to cheer them on.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Charlene; six children: Charles and Patti Hanza, Geronimo; Karl and Sherry Hanza, Lawton; Darrell and Cindy Hanza, Geronimo; Sharon and Grady Greene, Collinsville; Jana and Greg Hogan, Perry; and Teresa and David Heater, Lawton, fourteen grandchildren and their spouses: Tad Hanza, Stephen and Whitney Hanza, Sarah and Gil Ambrose, Clint and Candy Hanza, Kathryn and David Harris, Barry and Janet Hanza, Alyssa and Derek Cottrell, Bret Hanza, Briant and Ashley Hanza, Kyle and Jessica Hanza, Philip and Kirsten Greene, Robert Greene, Geoffrey Hogan and Collin Hogan; twenty two great-grandchildren; two sisters in law, Shirlene Scoggins, Midland, TX, and Jo and David Bray, Sayre; 18 nieces and nephews and their spouses and extended family.
