Burial with full military honors will be under the direction of Becker-Rabon Funeral Home. SFC (Retired) Taswell “Larry” Thornhill, age 78, of Lawton, passed away Monday, February 18, 2019 in Lawton.

He was born November 8, 1940 in Worth County, Georgia to Ferma and Thelma (Brown) Thornhill. He married Phyllis Marie McMasters on October 10, 1964 in Sterling, Oklahoma. She died May 4, 2005.

Sgt Thornhill served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. After his military service in Vietnam, he and Phyllis were stationed in Germany, and Hawaii as well as other state side duty stations throughout his twenty years of service. He retired in 1980.

His decorations and medals include the Bronze Star with First Oak Leaf Cluster, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal with First Oak Leaf Cluster, Vietnam Service Medal with Four Service Stars and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. Following his retirement he worked for CDI for over twenty years. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans.

He was a proud grandfather and great grandfather. Survivors include two daughters, Maryann Hulsey and her husband Derrell, Elgin and Angela M. (Angel) Thornhill, Lawton, two grandchildren,SMSgt (Retired) Derek Hulsey and his wife SMSgt Deborah Hulsey, Rapid City, South Dakota and Brandon Dale Hulsey, Lawton, five great grandchildren, Makayla Marie Hulsey and Jessica Ann Hulsey, both of Rapid City, South Dakota, Hayden Hulsey, Kylie Hulsey and Reef Hulsey, all of Lawton, brother, Wayne Thornhill and his wife Faye, Albany, Georgia and two nephews, Jeff Thornhill, and Paul Thornhill, both of Albany, Georgia and a dear close friend Joann Chapman. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and granddaughter, Teah Marie Hulsey.
