Originally from Perth, Australia, Greg was born on May 18, 1976 to Margaret Ellen and Terrence Francis Davies. In his adult years, Greg was a Grade 5 elementary school teacher at St. Jude’s Catholic School.

He was known for his innovative and effective teaching techniques which included incorporating his love of Star Wars into reading programs and field trips. After emigrating to the United States, Greg found work at Cameron University where his final position was as the Information Technology Help Desk Coordinator. His passion for education never wavered and he was highly involved in the Cameron community, where he supported the technology needs of the students, staff, and faculty.

An early adopter of technology and the internet, Greg first met Kara Hodek online through a KISS fan forum in the late 1990s. In the summer of 2001, Kara visited Greg in Perth and Greg in turn came to Lawton during Christmas of that year to meet Kara’s three children. What began as friendship had turned into love, and in 2003 Greg came back to Lawton on a fiancé visa.

Greg and Kara married on May 12, 2003 in Wichita Falls, Texas and Greg became a strong father figure to Jeffrey, Randall, and Kalyn Drake. While Greg and Kara’s marriage didn’t work out, they remained friends and Greg remained a supportive part of the children’s lives up until the time of his passing. In late 2013, Greg and Jennifer Wieda met online and became friends immediately.

After a lengthy correspondence, Greg and Jennifer finally met in person in March of 2014 and during that first meeting they decided that friendship had become love. Greg still lived in Lawton and Jennifer lived in Wichita Falls, Texas during this time. They commuted to each other whenever they could and kept in touch online and over the phone until May 2017, when Jennifer relocated to Lawton and moved in with Greg.

They became engaged on January 3, 2019. Greg was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Davies. He is survived by his father and step-mother, Terry and Emma Davies; his sister Jennifer Davies; his step-sister Chermine Davies; his half-sister Eloise Davies; his former wife Kara Hodek; his step-children Jeffery Drake, Randall Drake, and Kalyn Hinson and her husband Skylar Hinson; his fiancée Jennifer Wieda; and countless family, friends, and colleagues around the world.

Greg’s memorial celebration will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at the CETES Conference Center on the Cameron University campus in Lawton, Oklahoma from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM. Anyone who wishes to pay their respects is welcome to attend.
