Burial will follow in Flower Mound Cemetery. Jaunita Carol Mizell, age 60, Lawton went to her heavenly home on Thursday, February 21, 2019.

She was born December 24, 1958 in Anchorage, Alaska, the daughter of Cecil Lee and Mary Lou (Askew) Owens. When she was two years old, the family moved to Springfield, Missouri for four years, until returning to Bethel, Alaska. She went to grade school there, and then the family moved to Walters, Oklahoma.

She finished grade school in Walters and was a member of the beginner’s band. In 1972, the family moved to Lawton, where she attended Tomlinson Junior High School, then later attended Lawton High School. She was a member of the LHS band, the Honor Society and was in the Who’s Who Among American High School Students.

She graduated in 1977 and attended the University of Oklahoma for two years. In 1978 she married to Josef J. Mizell. She worked at WalMart, then when Sam’s Club opened, she moved to a job there.

Later she was employed at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company until her health failed in 2003. She was a member of Cameron Baptist Church. She is survived by two children, Lucas Mizell, and Crystal Haumesser and her husband Rusty, Albuquerque, New Mexico; two granddaughters, Katlyn Haumesser and Morgan Haumesser; her mother, Mary Lou Doye, Lawton; four sisters Rebekah Stone, Amarillo, Texas, Ruth Ann Christensen, Burleson, Texas, Carolyn Sheen and Marsha Dorsey both of Kearney, Nebraska; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Cecil Owens, a son, Thomas Ford Mizell, II, her dad, Richard Lee Doye, and a sister, Janet Lee Resler.
