Edward J. “Bear” Williams March 18, 1938 – February 17, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Edward J. “Bear” Williams passed away at his home in Lone Wolf, Oklahoma on Sunday, February 17, 2019. He was 80 years old. He was born March 18, 1938 in Eureka, California and grew up in and around the Santa Cruz area.

After high school he joined the United States Army, where he was a paratrooper and sharpshooter. After his military service he became a truck driver, which he enjoyed traveling and seeing the country for several years. He eventually located to Georgia where he met Jewell and began his law enforcement career.

Law enforcement took him to Monroe County, Florida where he was a decorated sheriff deputy with many commendations and certificates of accomplishment. It was here he began handling bloodhounds, something he was very good at. Later he became a homicide detective.

He was very proud of his work in law enforcement. After he retired, Bear settled with his beloved wife Jewell in Arizona, and later Oklahoma. She passed away in 2006.

Bear is survived by his life companion Delberta “Tiny” Lynch and her son Clifford, family members Yvonne Chicks, Jacqueline Geautreaux, Bob Williams, Laura Preston-Mobley, Donna Waters and Loretta Williams. Bear will be remembered with a memorial service at a date yet to be determined. Arrangements are being held under the direction of Becker-Rabon Funeral Home of Snyder.
