Obituary for Dora Irene Little Williams Dora Irene Little Williams, of North Tazewell, VA passed away on Thursday, April 19, 2018 in Lebanon, VA. Dora spent most of her adult life in Tazewell, VA and lots of her early life in Belleville, MI. The oldest daughter of the predeceased Arthur James and Dorothy Vance Little; she was also a granddaughter of the late Ambrose Andrew and Dora Matilda Roop Little and Jesse Abner and Daisy Irene Hash Vance, all predeceased and residents of Tazewell, VA.
Her hobbies included quilting and reading. She loved red birds, yellow roses, lightening bugs and peepers, the sound of running creek water, sitting in her “office” on the front porch and enjoying God’s beauty all around her. She also loved bingo and rummy.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas Melvin Williams, Jr.; two daughters, Christina “Chrissie” Irene Anderson Peters and husband, Russell Andrew Peters of Bristol, TN and Sarah Denise Williams of Tazewell, VA; siblings, Patricia “Pat” Ann Little Edwards and husband, Kedric Conn Edwards, Sr. of Castlewood, VA, Susan Marie Little of Tazewell, VA and Jesse Andrew “Butch” Little of Tazewell, VA; numerous other family members and friends. Special thanks to Jessica Harrison and the Jerry Yates family. Funeral services for Dora Williams will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev.
Conn Edwards officiating. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery in Tazewell, VA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 – 9 p.m. Monday, April 23, 2018.
When asked what kind of flowers she would like for her funeral, she once answered, “None. I think it would be nice if everyone just took someone they love out to dinner”. Pursuant to her wishes, the family request that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to our local food pantries, so more people who are struggling to share a meal together may do so.
