Obituary for Doris Lavon Barr (Nunley) Doris Lavon Nunley Barr 1949-2018 Doris Lavon Barr, 69, of Argillite, KY went home to be with the Lord Saturday, November 24, 2018 at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland. She was born July 9, 1949 in Sugar Camp, Kentucky a daughter of the late Hartford Alexander and Nancy Margaret Brown Nunley . In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by four brothers, Frazier (Fred) Nunley, Donald Edward Nunley Sr., James Ray Nunley, and Hartford Nunley Jr. (June); four sisters, Beverly Messmer, Jo Ann Morrison, Virginia Halterman, and Geneva Deal.
Doris was a seamstress and had worked at Corbin Sewing Factory in Huntington, West Virginia. She was of the Pentecostal faith. She is survived by her husband, Marshall Christopher Barr; three step-sons, Timothy (Cheri) Barr ,and Christopher (Tammy) Barr both of Cobb, Georgia, and Vincent (Julie) Barr of Maryville, Tennessee; a step-daughter Edwina Brown of Belvedere, New Jersey; one brother Philip (Lydia) Nunley of Rush, Kentucky; one sister Evelyn Warden of Springfield, Ohio; three grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren, and a host of special nieces and nephews who were (all of her babies) whom she loved dearly and loved her the same .
Pallbearers will be Bill Messmer, Charles Edward Messmer, Donald Edward Nunley, Jr., Donald Lewis Nunley, Phillip Nunley, Jr., Joseph Nunley, Larry Nunley, and Sheldon Jenkins. Funeral services will be Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sparks Funeral Home in Grayson. Josh Nunley, officiating.
Burial will follow at the Cribbs Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, November 30, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Online condolences at www.
