Obituary for Doris Rose Heiple (Herring) Doris Rose Heiple, 79, of Murphysboro, passed away at 4:26 p.m. Thursday, July 19, 2018, at her residence in Murphysboro. Doris was born on March 27, 1939, in Murphysboro, to Freeman Herring and Pearl (Bryant) Herring. After Pearl’s death, Mr. Herring married Lura Alley and they raised Doris.
She had worked for eighteen years at Brown Shoe Company and then she went to work for the Murphysboro School District # 186 as a cook and worked for thirty five years before her retirement. Mrs. Heiple was a member of Elm Street Baptist Church, where she volunteered her services and help with funeral dinners, the Food Pantry, Vacation Bible School, and when ever needed. She also volunteered as a member of the St. Joseph Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
Doris married William “Bill” Heiple on November 7, 1960, in Murphysboro, and he preceded her in death on January 27, 1994. She was survived by two daughters Cheryl Wisely and her husband Tim Wisely of Fairview Heights, Illinois, and Tara Heiple-Keen and her husband Mike Keen of Murphysboro; five grandchildren Christopher (Jessica) Snider, Jason (Kristen) Wisely, Brittney (Terry) Henkenberns, Joseph (Cecelia) Lindsey, and Shawn (Kelsey) Bivins; thirteen great grandchildren Hope, Hunter, Holly-Ann, Henry, Haley, Ryan, Colton, Penelope, Oaklyn, Maci, Brantley, Logan, Madison, and one great grandchild on the way; two step sisters Marjorie Imhoff of Murphysboro and Norma Lee Miner and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers Enos and Bill Herring, two sisters Carrie White and Marie Higginson, one step brother Delbert Alley, her parents, and step mother.
Gravesite services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, July 23, 2018, at Murdale Gardens of Memory with Rev. Charles Allen officiating. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery.
