Obituary for Herman White Herman L. White, 95, passed away at 5:30 a.m. Saturday, June 30, 2018, in the Garden Court of Manor Court of Carbondale. Herman was born on December 23, 1922, in Jackson County, Illinois, to Dennis White and Ora (Pearce) White. He was the Propane Manager at Midwestern Gas Company in Sparta and at Illinois Utilities in Murphysboro from 1965 to 1985.
He was a former member of the Illinois Gas Association. Mr. White was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Murphysboro. Herman married Mereda Drueke on September 5, 1944, in St. Andrew Church in Murphysboro, and she preceded him in death on April 15, 2016.
He was a dear father to Rita Ripley and father-in-law to Lawrence Ripley of Murphysboro; Beloved grandfather to Cindy Meyer and grandfather-in-law to Lee Meyer of Millstadt, and great grandfather to Kyle Lockhart Meyer of Millstadt and Aaron Meyer at MO State University in Springfield, MO; numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Lowell White, Ernest White, Ralph White, and John White; one sister Lola Mae Wisely; and his parents. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 9, 2018, at St. Andrew Catholic Church with Father Gary Gummersheimer officiating.
Burial will be in St. Andrew Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the church. Memorials may be made to St. Andrew Church or St. Andrew School.
