Dorothy Chitwood, 95, of Richland Center, died Tuesday, July 17, 2018, at Schmitt Woodland Hills. She was born February 2, 1923, the daughter of Guy and Grace (Banks) Rose, in the township of Rockbridge. On June 11, 1960 Dorothy was untied in marriage to Carl Chitwood at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.

Dorothy was employed at the ASCS (Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Services) from 1944 to 1973. She loved all kinds of sports, football, baseball especially the “St Louis Cardinals”. … Read More » She and Carl did a lot of fishing and camping.

She loved gardening, especially her flowers. Dorothy is survived by her adopted step daughter Peggy Kidd of Richland Center, two grandchildren, Rosanne Kidd of Goose Creek, SC and Zachary Kidd of Edgefield, SC, seven great grandchildren: Joshua, Marcus, Kahvaun, Haley, Ashleigh, Gabbie, Jaxon; two great great grandchildren, Finleigh and Cam, niece Carrie Salus, two nephews, Steven Salus and Kevin Salus, many cousins and friends. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Carl, her parents, a brothers-in-law Cameron Chitwood, Harold Salus, son-in-law Gifford Kidd, two sisters-in-laws Charlotte Salus, and Josephine Chitwood, niece Lynn Danks.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at the Pratt Memorial Chapel with burial to follow in the Richland Center Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 27,2018 at the Pratt Memorial Chapel from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM and again at the Pratt Memorial Chapel on Saturday, July 28, 2018 from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM. The Pratt Funeral and Cremation Service is assisting the family with their arrangements.
