On Thursday, October 11, 2018, at her home in Gastonia, Dorothy “Dot” Pyatt Harris Hensley, age 92, of Marion, went to occupy her new home which will never need any repair. Dot was born in Marion on September 23, 1926, the fifth of eight children born to the late Henry and Nola Moore Pyatt. She was retired from Baxter Healthcare and was a faithful member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church.

Her first husband, Johnny Harris, to whom she was happily married for 32 years, as well as their two daughters, Ellen “Dian” Barlowe and Dorothy Jean Harris, preceded her in death. Seven years after Johnny passed away she married Sam Hensley and they were married for 28 wonderful years before he went to be with the Lord. Dot loved her family very much and her love for them was returned to her with great devotion.

She will be missed by all who knew her, friends and family alike. Saddened by her passing are her loving sisters, Estelle Allman of Marion and Betty Jo Phillips of Campobello, SC; two grandchildren, Barbara Darnell and Beverly Shepard; six great-grandchildren; and two, soon to be three, great-great-grandchildren. A service of remembrance and celebration of her life will take place on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Westmoreland Funeral Home in Marion with Rev.

Eric Grindstaff officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Following the service she will be laid to rest beside her beloved Johnny in the Chapel Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
