LAYTON – Dotty left her earthly tasks behind and passed onto a new beginning in the next life December 25, 2018. Dotty was born at the home of her parents in Clarksville, Tennessee. She was the youngest of eight children born to James Brewer Stacey and Clara Thompson Stacey.

Dotty grew up, attended and graduated from schools in Dickson, Tennessee. It was there that she met the love of her life, Richard (Dick) Nelson Cleaver. They were married at St. Christopher’s Catholic Church in Dickson, Tennessee.

They had four children and lived in several states including Tennessee, Texas, New York, California and Utah. In 1972 they chose Utah as a permanent residence following Dick’s military career retirement. Dotty was employed by Dr. Don W. Denning, DDS for 15 years, retiring in 1990.

She had also been employed by Dr. Gary G. Heninger, DDS and Dr. Daniel F. Boone, DDS. Dotty truly enjoyed the field of Dentistry and the satisfaction derived from helping the patients who she served. She had also been employed by Davis County School Food Service.

Her earlier employment was spent in journalism where she worked at the Dickson County Herald, Dickson, TN. Dotty was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, where she served in choir for many years. Her Catholic faith was a of great blessings to her.

She enjoyed people, especially her grandchildren whom she loved dearly. She was a past member of the local, State and National ADAA, where she served as membership chairperson at local level for several years. She was also active in the Al Anon program.

She is survived by her four children, Randall (Randy) Paul (Susan) of Bountiful, UT; Lucinda (Cindy) Gail Cleaver of Clifton, CO; Barry Victor (Jelea) of Logan, OH; Rebecca (Becky) Ann Gailey (Russell) of Layton, UT; 19 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, parents, two brothers, one sister and one grandson, T.J. Carter. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, January 3, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Saint Rose of Lima Catholic, 210 Chapel Street, Layton, Utah.

Friends may visit family Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No.
