Dorothy Jean Hill-Eames, 75, of Denmark, died at 4:56 AM Monday, February 25, 2019, at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington. Born December 16, 1943, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Boise and Norma Wehage Mattoon. On July 22, 2014, she married Major Fred Eames in Burlington.

Dorothy worked at the Pentagon right after high school and then as a police secretary in Virginia Beach before returning to Iowa. She was also a CNA at St. Francis Care Center. She was a member of the Salvation Army and the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Burlington.

She enjoyed reading, sewing, volunteering a lot of time with the Salvation Army and delivering for Meals on Wheels for several years. Survivors include her husband, Major Fred Eames of Denmark, two sons, Quinn M. Hill of Clinton and Terrence R. Hill of Burlington, one daughter, Carey (Darnell Sangster) Shilb of Monmouth, IL; sixteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Sonny Mattoon of Burlington; and one half-sister, Betty Kendall of Michigan. Besides her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her sister, Virginia Louise Mattoon, one son, Richard M. Hill, and two great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM with the family to receive friends Friday, March 1, 2019 at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home. The funeral service for Dorothy will be 10:00 AM Friday, March 1, 2019, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Arellano officiating and Barbara Michael co-officiating. Burial will be in Keokuk National Cemetery.

A time of food and fellowship will be held at Seventh Day Adventist Church following the burial. Memorials have been established for the Denmark Fire Dept. , Salvation Army and the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
