Mary Margaret Simpson, 83, of Burlington, died at 7:25 AM Sunday, February 17, 2019, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington. Born October 10, 1935, in Bethany, MO, she was the daughter of Clarence Alton and Lottie Aliena Reynolds Stevens. On December 11, 1953, she married Harry Lee Simpson in Knoxville, IA.

Harry passed away on August 17, 1970. Mary worked for Marriott Food Service at Bankers Life & Principal Finance for 30 years. She was a graduate of Fort Dodge High School.

Mary was active with children’s ministry at Capitol City Baptist and after that was an active member at New Testament Baptist. She retired in 1999, moved to Burlington and became active at Riverside Baptist Church. Survivors include one son, Walter Lee Simpson of Charleston, WV; two brothers, Pastor Charles Walter Stevens of Fort Madison and Pastor Robert Lee Stevens of Sherbrooke, QC, Canada; one grandson; Michael Simpson of Des Moines; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, Mary was preceded in death by her parents. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM until 7:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Monday, February 25, 2019 at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home. The funeral service for Mary will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, February 26, 2019, at Riverside Baptist Church with Kyle Waterhouse officiating.

Burial will be at a later date. A memorial has been established for the Riverside Baptist Church.
