OBITUARY Dorothy L. Appleby February 18, 1927 – November 14, 2018 Dorothy Appleby, of Westlake, LA passed away on November 14, 2018 at the age of 91. She was born on February 18, 1927 to Johnnie and Maggie Whittington in Brookhaven, Mississippi. Dorothy was a proud wife to Lewis Morgan Appleby, a proud mother to her two children and together they enjoyed sixty-six years of marriage until his passing in 2014.

She is best remembered for her dedication to her family, strong will, feisty personality, especially in her role as a Westlake school bus driver. Gardening, cooking and baking were her favorite domestic pastimes accompanied by traveling with her grandchildren. She was a member of 1st Baptist Church of Westlake, LA, a member of Eastern Star, a volunteer with the American Heart Association, and was active in her children’s various activities.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Lewis; her parents; and three sisters; Delma Russell, Lois Price and Thelma Rene Jean. Those left to honor her memory are her children; Daren Appleby and Shelly Appleby; two grandchildren, Jacob and Morgan Appleby; two great grandchildren, Callen and Coren Appleby; sister in-law, Carolyn Appleby Young and husband Harold “Hill” Young and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Services will be on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 10am.

Visitation to be held on Saturday, November 17, 2018 from 8am to time of service. She will be laid to rest at Westlake Memorial Cemetery. The family would like to express their gratitude for the wonderful care given by the staff at Grand Cove Nursing Facility.
