OBITUARY WINSOME WREN April 4, 1923 – October 31, 2018 Winsome Waugh Wren, 95, of Lake Charles, Louisiana passed away on Wednesday October 31, 2018. She was born to E.T. and Lou Annie Haygood on April 4, 1923 in Haynesville, LA. Upon graduation from Bastrop High School, she studied nursing in Monroe, LA .

Winsome married the love of her life, A. G. Wren in 1943 becoming a Marine wife, who often said she was a proud member of “The Greatest Generation”. She was a dedicated mother and wife, who enjoyed educating herself and sharing her wealth of knowledge of history with her children and grandchildren. Reading and crossword puzzles were her favorite pass-time.

Having survived cancer, she began her volunteer work with charity hospitals and other charitable organizations. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband. Those left to cherish her memories are one son, Jon Wren (Myrtle) of Lake Charles, LA; two daughters, Kathleen Beard (Douglas) of Bueche, LA and Connie DeRouen (Troy) of Moss Bluff, LA; five grandchildren, Tricia Habetz (Chris), Christy Pousson (Jeremy), Stephen Wren (Leslie), Brooks Beard (Fiancé Marisa), Morgan Boyette (Jake) and eight great grandchildren, Anna Pousson, Caroline Pousson, Cecila Rose Pousson, Blake Wren, Grace Wren, Ava Wren, Maddison Boyette, and Logan Boyette: one brother, John Lewis Haygood of Minden, LA.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the employees of Grand Cove Nursing Home and Brighton Bridge Hospice for their exceptional care for their loved one. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to donate to The American Cancer Society or American Diabetes Association. Visitation will be on Saturday, November 3, 2018 from 9am to 12pm at Hixson of Lake Charles with funeral services beginning at 12pm.
