Obituary for Dorothy “Mimzi” Marie Robbins On September 23, 2018, Dorothy Marie Ficocella Robbins “Mimzi” went to eternal rest. She is survived by her loving and devoted daughter, Marguerite Germain and her three sons, Mike, Robert and Jack, as well as her puppies, Gigi, Sofia, and Francesca. Born in Brooklyn, NY during the Great Depression, Mimzi had a spirit of adventure and was a true champion for women to achieve their dreams.

In a time when it was difficult for women to pursue higher education, she received a BA in Philosophy from Notre Dame College/St. John’s University in NY, an MA and Ph.D. in Business Administration and Organizational Design and Behavior from NYU. She was a teacher and principal at elementary schools in New York state for 14 years, later becoming a Professor of Behavioral Sciences and Business Administration at three NY/NJ/FL universities. Throughout her lifetime she was an avid student of metaphysics and religions.

All these things were done with her intention of teaching people of all ages to recognize and realize their own potential, thereby increasing their health, happiness and longevity. She moved from Annapolis, MD to Mt. Pleasant, SC to help her physician daughter transition from the US Navy into private practice.

In her later years, her greatest joy was developing the vision for her daughter’s medical practice, Germain Dermatology. She took great pride in every nuance of this practice – management, marketing and creative planning. In the ups and downs of her life journey, Mimzi always walked with dignity and grace, experiencing life to the fullest.

Many referred to her as a “maverick”. She enjoyed many innovative hobbies such as, water and snow skiing, hunting, private piloting, writing and traveling. In 2002, she wrote and published a children’s book to encourage children to look inside to recognize and utilize their own natural, spiritual strength and awareness.

Mimzi requested a private Catholic service. In lieu of flowers or gifts, Mimzi wanted everyone to practice, in the words of Mother Theresa, “random acts of kindness” in her memory.
