Obituary for Dorothy Zazula Dorothy Eileen Hartigan Zazula, 100, of Greenwood, SC, widow of Paul Zazula, died Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Wesley Commons. Born in Chicago, Illinois, on November 5, 1917, she was the daughter of the late William and Mary Cullen Hartigan. She recently celebrated her 100th birthday with family and friends at Wesley Commons in Greenwood, SC.

“Dot” was born at the end of WWI and lived to see WW2, the Korean War, Viet Nam War, Desert Storm, the ongoing wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, eighteen U.S. Presidents, life changing inventions and medical procedures too numerous to name. Finally, and most importantly, she lived to see the Chicago Cubs win the World Series. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Paul and brothers Joseph, William and James “Ed”, sisters Marie and Ruth and a son-in-law, Richard Monarch.

She is survived by her brother Charles “Bob” Hartigan; her sons, William (Teresa) Zazula and James (April) Zazula; her daughter, Mary Anne Monarch; grandchildren, Ralph (Kelly), Catherine (Jason), Ruth (Corey,) James (Jennifer), Joshua (Michelle), Becky (Cory), Megan (Jon) and John (Sada); and sixteen great grandchildren. Private services will be held in Chicago at a date to be announced. Rather than flowers or donations, the family asks only that you treasure the people you love and take every opportunity to tell them.
