Obituary for Dr. Carl G. Royer Dr. Carl G. Royer, passed away unexpectedly at the Johnson City Medical Center on Friday, April 27, 2018, at the age of 81. He was born in Somerset, PA on March 25, 1937. He had lived in Roan Mountain, TN for the past thirty-seven years.

He was pre-deceased by his parents, Samuel T. Royer, Jr. and Louise Gall Royer and a son, Carl Gall Royer. Carl graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Veterinary Medicine and was a practicing veterinarian for fifty-three years. He was a member of Heartland Fellowship in Elizabethton.

He is survived by his wife of forty-eight years, Constance D. Royer, of the home; three sisters, Elizabeth Watson, of Sabillasville, MD; Rebecca Urian, of Thurmont, MD; Pauline Stitely, of Kingsport; and a brother, Samuel Royer, of Thurmont, MD. His children are, Justine Hein, of Kingsport, TN; Stephen Swales of Woodbine, MD; Theodore Royer, of Lantana, FL; and Pamela Butziger, of Columbia, MD. His grandchildren are Jessica Strom, Jeremiah Hein, Jonathan Hein, Joel Hein, Lauren Myrick, Lukas Royer, Nathan Swales and Benjamin Swales; eight great-grandchildren, Ilsa Strom, Ilena Strom, Iason Strom, Molly Hein, Malachi Hein, Mattias Hein, Eve Hein and Ezra Hein.

His family was the delight of his heart. A service to honor the life of Dr. Royer will be conducted on Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at 7:00 PM in the Chapel of Peace, Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton with Pastor Marvin Slagle officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5:30 – 7:00 PM on Tuesday prior to the service.

A burial service will be conducted on Wednesday, May 2, 2018, in the Dotson Cemetery, Roan Mountain. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to Heartland Fellowship, 211 Heartland Way, Elizabethton, TN 37643.
