Obituary for Colman “Bo” Woodhall Colman Barnes “Bo” Woodhall, 80, of Johnson City, passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at his home surrounded by loved ones. A native of Durham, NC, he is the son of the late Dr. Barnes Woodhall and Mrs. Frances Colman Woodhall. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by: an infant son, Colman Barnes Woodhall II and son, Barnes Walker Woodhall.
Bo was a member of Munsey Memorial United Methodist Church in Johnson City, TN. During World War II, Bo’s family lived in White Sulfur Springs, WV to provide Medical Care. Bo attended Calvert Method School (presently known as Durham Academy), Exeter, University of North Carolina, North Carolina State University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in nuclear engineering, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he earned a Master of Science in nuclear engineering on a full scholastic scholarship, and also Harvard University where he earned a Master of Business Administration degree.
He’s worked as an engineer with NUS, project manager at NAC Engineering, president of Ecotech, and most recently as Partner/Owner at Nuclear Fuel Services. Those left to cherish his memory include: his wife of twenty-seven years, Louise Woodhall; sons, Michael Colman Woodhall and Robert Walker Woodhall (Amy); step-children, Alison von Briesen (Daniel) and Andrea Baird (Scott Smith); grandchild, Emerson Rae Woodhall; step-grandchildren, Abigail Gagan, Miles Gagan, Augustus Smith, and Ronan Smith. He is also survived by his sister, Elizabeth Rackley (Dr. Charles Rackley); nephew, Edward Rackley; niece, Colman Rackley Riddell (Richard); great-nephew, Kane Riddell, great niece, Elizabeth Riddell; and the mother of his sons, Dorothy Woodhall.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Paul Brown and to all of Bo’s caregivers. The family will gather to receive friends at Munsey Memorial United Methodist Church from 1:00 PM until a memorial service beginning at 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 5, 2018 with Pastor Mark Gooden officiating.
