Obituary for Dwight Harmon Frost Dwight Harmon Frost entered the world January 13, 1936 in Kingsport, TN and entered heaven April 23, 2018. Fifty eight of his years were spent by the side of Bessie Frost and together they provided a home and hope to 19 plus foster children plus three of their own. This act of generosity granted Dwight many names: Poppie, Papaw, and Uncle Harmon/Dwight.
“Frostie”, the one nickname that stuck, owned Sunshine electric. As his business name suggests, he was the life of every party, making work fun. He spent numerous hours honing that skill at Hart/Burlington Cotton Mill, TPI, North Electric, ITT, Harris Tarkett and Electrolux.
(Just ask his co-workers! ) Frostie was a member of Gray United Methodist church for 50 plus years, and a charter member at Bethany Presbyterian Church. Frostie was an equal opportunity hugger and praise giver Monday through Sunday every week of his life.
Frostie’s “community pool” brought joy and hamburgers to children for 30 years by exhibiting hospitality from his own back yard. Always a dutiful American, he served in the Army during the post WWII era in Germany. Frostie wanted to make sure the victory took.
Afterward, he dedicated countless hours transporting veterans of all ages to the VA. His concern was that every veteran who needed care received it. Frostie was blessed with three glorious children Edward Poole, Terresa “Terry” Frost (Catherine) and David Frost (Edward Price) along with many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was also blessed with a special niece, Teresa Frost Weber as well as several dear, close cousins. Frostie was preceded in death by, his parents, Izetta and George Frost, his brother The Reverend Robert Frost, his infant brother, Carnol Frost, his twin daughters, Patricia Palmer Frost and Melissa Jane Frost and his foster daughter, Edwina Clarke. A Celebration of life service will be held at at Gray United Methodist Church in Gray TN on Thursday, April 26th at 7:30pm.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 before the service at the church. Committal services will be held on Friday, April 27th at 10:30 am, at Washington County Memory Gardens in Johnson City. All are invited to meet at the cemetery at 10:15 am.
