Obituary for Dr. David V. Hodgkiss Dr. David V. Hodgkiss Springhill, LA Funeral service for Dr. David V. Hodgkiss, age 67, will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, January 10, 2019, at the Bailey Funeral Home Chapel, Springhill, LA with Rev. G.R. Collier officiating. Graveside services will follow at 1:30 pm in Forest Park West Cemetery, Shreveport, LA under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 9, 2019, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Dr. Hodgkiss was born on October 5, 1951 in Pittsburgh, PA and passed away on Sunday, January 6, 2019 in Dallas, TX. He was a graduate of Louisiana State University Dental School in New Orleans, and practiced dentistry in Springhill for 30 years.
He was a member of the Springhill Masonic Lodge #348 FandAM and enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, skiing, roller skating, playing the guitar and spending time with his family and his fiancée`. He is survived by his daughters, Jaime Burnside and husband, Tim of Sarepta, Katie Branton of Sarepta, Laurie Hodgkiss of Springhill, Brianna Hodgkiss of Sarepta; son, Ricky Hays of Springhill; fiancee`, Janis Cannon; grandchildren, Jack Taylor, Victoria Taylor, Olivia Taylor, Jacob Burnside, Landon Hodgkiss, Evie Pickard, Beth Branton; mother of his children, Betty Mae Hodgkiss; two brothers, Glen Hodgkiss and Johnny Hodgkiss both of Shreveport; and his mother, Sam Hodgkiss of Shreveport. Dr. Hodgkiss was preceded in death by his father, Bernard Verne “Buzz” Hodgkiss; mother, Juanita Walker ‘Nita” Cooper; sister, Gail Jorgenson; and brother, Van Touchstone.
Pallbearers will be Jack Taylor, Glen Hodgkiss, Johnny Hodgkiss, Tim Burnside, Chad Taylor and Isaac Haas. Honorary pallbearers will be Jacob Burnside and Landon Hodgkiss. Sign our online guest book at www.
