Earl J. Cook, 89 passed away in Hughes County on June 9, 2018. He was born on August 17, 1928 in Hughes County to Raymond A. Cook and Willie Eugene (Holly) Cook. He attended Gum Springs Schools.

He was a Corporal in the United States Army and later in the Army Reserves. He married his love, Melba Lowe on August 20, 1954 in Holdenville, Oklahoma. The couple enjoyed 63 years of marriage.

He worked as a yard superintendent at Brewer and Anderson until his retirement. Earl was known for his… Read More » love of singing and playing guitar. Going to bluegrass festivals was one of his hobbies.

He loved the Lord and served in many capabilities at the church such as song leader and Deacon at Capitol Heights Baptist Church in Holdenville. In his spare time, Earl enjoyed raising a garden so he could give away as much as he could raise. Earl also worked with wood creating picture frames.

He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings Phillips Cook and wife Mary, Leroy Cook and LaJerald (Cook) Brown. Survivors include his wife, Melba of the home, children Mike Cook and wife Shannon of Duncan, Connie Streater of Sulphur, grandchildren Rick Streater and wife Suan of Shawnee, Heath Streater and wife Christy of Shawnee, Jennifer Cook of Pennsylvania, Brandon Cook of Duncan, great-grandchildren Jace, Jenna, Henry, Aspen, Jaxon, Jailin, Blayden, and Cambrey, siblings Ugie (Cook) Streetman and husband Roger, Steve Cook and wife Bernice, Joel Cook and wife Cathy, sister-in-law Esther Cook, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. Graveside service is scheduled for 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at the Calvin Cemetery.

Bro. Jim Crawford and Bro. Abraham Gomez will officiate the service.

Services are under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home in Holdenville. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to the Calvin Cemetery Association, PO Box 32, Calvin, OK 74531.
