Eddie’s Obituary Laton Edward (Eddie) Choate, Jr., 75, of Smith Mountain Lake, VA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 17, 2019 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Salem, VA after an extended illness. Eddie was born on March 9, 1944 in Marion, VA to the late Laton E. Choate, Sr. and Marie Welch Choate. He served a three year term in the United States Air Force, stationed in Cocoa Beach, FL, Biloxi, MS, and Tucson, AZ and was a Navigator/Instruments Specialist during the Vietnam War.

Eddie is survived by his wife of 48 years, Barbara Fleenor Choate; his fur baby, Fritz; brothers, Jesse (Carole) Choate and Ronnie (Rosalee) Choate; and many nieces, nephews and special friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Elizabeth United Methodist Church, c/o Carole Choate, 788 Teas Road, Sugar Grove, VA 24375, or to the charity of your choice. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at Elizabeth United Methodist Church, 547 Virginia Highlander Road, Sugar Grove, VA with the Rev.
