Dawes’ Obituary Marion, VA Dawes Blevins, age 93 passed away Sunday March 10, 2019 surrounded by family and friends. Mr. Blevins was born in Grayson County, VA to the late James Blevins and Catherine Greer Blevins and was preceded in death by his sisters Ida Price and Ivory Chambers; his brothers Tom, Lawton, Elmer and Bill Blevins. Dawes attended the Konnarock Lutheran Boys School, graduated from the Mt.

Rogers School and from business school. He played for the Mt. Rogers boys traveling basketball team.

He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He taught the art of fly fishing to several people. He attended the Faith Lutheran Church in Grayson County prior to moving to Smyth County.

Survivors include, his wife of 58 years Wilma Blevins; children, Dawes Blevins, Jr. and wife Connie of Pembroke, VA, Donna Cullop and husband Jeff of Marion, VA, Sandra Guthrie of Marion; seven grandchildren, Heather Oakes, Josh Blevins, Megan Blevins, Betsy Blevins, Tanner Cullop, Bakker Cullop, Dawson Guthrie; three great grandchildren, Hunter, Lana and Christian. ; Several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2PM Tuesday March 12, 2019 at the Bradley’s Funeral Home in Marion with Pastor Charlie Walker officiating.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 1:00 – 2:00 Pm Prior to services. Interment will be in the Walls Cemetery in Whitetop, VA. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.
