Elbert’s Obituary Marion, VA Elbert Glenn “Bert” Carrico, age 76 passed away Wednesday March 20, 2019 at the Bristol Regional Medical Center in Bristol, TN. Mr. Carrico was born in Smyth County to the late Leona Pitzer Carrico and Claude Berlin Carrico and was preceded in death by his brother Harry Carrico. He was retired from the Virginia Department of Corrections with over 25 years of service.

Bert loved to hunt and fish and was a longtime member of the Smyth County Moose Lodge. Survivors include his wife Nancy D. Carrico; daughters Michelle Anders of Marion, Gay Crigger and husband J.L. of Rural Retreat, Missy Shupe and husband Roger of Chilhowie; sons Alan Carrico and wife Janice of Marion, James Carrico and wife Lisa of Marion; grandchildren Brooke Boyd and Tanner, Brandi Slaughter and Clint, Tyler Carrico, Dalton Anders; Great granddaughters Addison Slaughter and Kylee Slaughter; sisters: Linda Kirk and husband Ed of Marion, and Martha Carrico of Bristol, TN; Brothers: John Carrico of Marion, Steve Carrico and wife Jodi of Marion, Ronald Carrico and wife Rosemary of Meadowview; many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2PM Friday March 22, 2019 at the Bradley’s Funeral Home in Marion with Reverend Greg Carrico officiating.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 1:00 – 2:00 PM prior to services. Interment will be in Greenwood UMC Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.
