Rev. Sam’s Obituary CHILHOWIE, VA Rev. Sam W. Caldwell, Sr. age 91 went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday March 13, 2019 at his home in Chilhowie, VA.

He was born on June 26, 1927 in Blairsville, GA to the late William & Bessie Caldwell. Along with his father and mother, he is preceded in death by one son William Terry Caldwell; brothers Rev. Talmadge Caldwell, Rev.

Mack Caldwell, and Rev. Glaidwell Caldwell; sisters Wauriga Shorty Simmons and Willamae “Billie” Stark; his first wife Wanda Stiles Caldwell; grandson Timothy Caldwell; and sisters-in-law Ruth, Bernice, & Gladys Caldwell. Rev.

Caldwell was a semi-retired minister. He began his ministry in Baltimore, MD in 1950 with the Church of God of Prophecy in Baltimore. He pastored throughout the years in Maryland, Georgia, Kentucky, and Virginia as well as holding revivals in many other states.

Rev. Caldwell was with the Church of God of Prophecy for 30 years, having served as district overseer for nine of those years, and ordained Bishop for 19 of the years. Rev.

Caldwell was a disabled veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army during the early and mid-1940. Survivors include his wife Dorothy Testerman Caldwell for 38 years. It was the faith she had in the Lord and her prayers that kept Rev.

Caldwell going for a long time. Three sons Sam Caldwell, Jr. & wife Linda of Collinsville, VA, Daniel Caldwell & wife Janet, and Robert Jerry Caldwell, all of Cleveland, TN; three daughters Patricia Harris of Cleveland, TN, Kristie Blackwell & husband Adam of Chilhowie, and Amanda Anderson of Bristol; two sisters Florence Dean of Griffin, GA and Earline Phillips of Gainesville, GA; 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and several nieces & nephews. Funeral services will be held at 7:00PM on Friday March 15, 2019 from the Bradley’s Funeral Chapel in Chilhowie with Pastor David Robbins and Pastor Adam Blackwell officiating.

The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00PM on Friday evening at the funeral chapel. Entombment service will be held at 10:00AM on Saturday at the Mt. Rose Cemetery Mausoleum in Glade Spring, with full military honors rendered by the Francis Marion V.F.W. Post 4667.
