Edith Ceroll May 17, 1922 – October 11, 2018 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| View Guest Book Entries| Send Sympathy Card Edith Ceroll, age 96, of Fargo, ND, formerly of rural New Effington, SD, passed away Thursday, October 11, 2018, at Bethany Retirement Living, Fargo. Funeral services will be Monday, October 15, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church, rural Claire City, SD, with Rev. Larry Johnson officiating.

Music will be provided by organist Edwin Arndt, Jr. Burial will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be her grandsons: Jeffrey, Warren, Jason, Michael, and Mark Ceroll, Daron and Brice Sander, and Andrew Trittin. Honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughters: LeAnn Rudolph, Lisa Goff, Diane Olsen, Jennifer Trittin, and Melissa Rybak.

Visitation will be Sunday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. followed by a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at the Eggers Funeral Home in Rosholt, SD, and will continue Monday morning one hour prior to the service at the church. Edith (Hansen) Ceroll was born in Norway Township, Roberts County, SD, to Alfred and Bessie (Hart) Hansen on May 17, 1922. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

On March 19, 1941, Edith was united in marriage to Reinhold Ceroll by Rev. Cloeter at the Ceroll family farm. God blessed their union with five children: Gerald, Shirley, Delhart, Elaine, and Reinhold, Jr., and granted them 62 years of wedded life.

Reinhold and Edith farmed in Minnesota Township until moving to Dakota Estates in Lidgerwood, ND, in March of 2000. Reinhold passed away August 10, 2003, at the age of 87 years. Edith moved to Bethany Retirement Living in Fargo, ND, in November 2014.

Edith hobbies included sewing, crocheting, and doing embroidery. She also enjoyed gardening and baking bread. Survivors include two sons, Gerald (Donna) Ceroll of Fargo, and Reinhold John (Bonnie) Ceroll, Jr., of Hankinson, ND; two daughters, Shirley (Ronald) Sander of Hankinson, and Elaine (Ernst) Trittin of Hankinson; a daughter-in-law, Laurel Ceroll of Custer, SD; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Virgil Hansen of Kalispell, MT, and Wesley Hansen of Custer, SD; two sisters, Adelle Legato of Maplewood, MN, and Eva (Charles) Holbert of Apache Junction, AZ; and a sister-in-law, Esther Pankow of rural Hankinson.

Edith was preceded in death by her husband, Reinhold; parents, Alfred and Bessie; a son, Delhart; nine brothers, Clarence, Harvey, Ruben, Glen, Leonard, Alfred, Jr., Marvin, Merle, and Donnie; and two sisters, Lila and Marion.
