Edith’s Obituary Edith “Edie” (Brown) Smeal, longtime area resident, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 2, 2019. She was 79. She was born in Philipsburg, Pennsylvania on December 10, 1939, a daughter of the late Harold and Viola (Cushard) Brown.

She attended Pennsylvania schools and then married her great love, Woodrow W. Smeal, Jr. on July 30, 1957. Together they moved to Niagara Falls where they raised their family. Edie was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed going for rides with her husband on their motorcycle and her greatest joy was her time with her family.

In addition to her loving husband of nearly 61 years she is survived by three children: Scott (Tammy Kazial) Smeal, Karen (Steve) Wheaton and LeRoy (Josey) Smeal, 5 grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son Eugene Smeal and 7 siblings. There will be no visitation and services and burial will be private as per Edie’s wishes.

If desired, donations may be made in her name to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Niagara Hospice House.
